Paleobotanical Section Postdoctoral Research Fund
The Paleobotanical Section Postdoctoral Research Fund is intended to support fieldwork and/or other project seed activities for Paleobotanical Section Members currently in postdoctoral positions at a recognized institution of higher learning or museum.
Applicants must be members of the Paleobotanical Section for a minimum of 3 years.
The grant proposal announcement will be made at the Paleobotanical Section Business Meeting, and advertised in section mailings. Proposals are due 1 January of the following year, and are limited to five pages plus bibliography. Proposals must include a cover letter, an abstract explaining the relevance of the project to paleobotany, and how this work will potentially lead to furthering the applicant’s career and acquisition of a grant from the NSF or comparable funding agency, plus a CV. A detailed budget should also be included. The budget limit is $2,000 and should not include salary. The award will not necessarily be announced every year, and an individual researcher can only receive one award.
The Chair will appoint a committee that will make recommendations regarding the awarding of the grant. The awarding of the grant is not mandated by the announcement, and if none of the proposals are deemed worthy, the grant will be re-announced at the next year’s Business Meeting.
